The world as a playground, home as an anchorage. Laura and Ronan, international professionals and parents, have built their lives around a shared curiosity: a passion for discovering cultures through travel, music, gastronomy and design. When the time came to put down roots in a light-filled top-floor apartment in Meudon, that same sensibility naturally led them to Maison Kyka.

Beneath the rooftops, a home bathed in light

It all began with one defining feature: light. Perched on the top floor of their building, Laura and Ronan's apartment enjoys exceptional natural daylight, further enhanced by carefully considered architectural interventions. Chief among them is a bespoke steel-and-glass partition between the kitchen and the home office, allowing light to flow effortlessly from one room to the next without interruption.

The couple had a clear vision of what they wanted, even if they lacked the technical expertise to bring it to fruition themselves. With a strong interest in interior design and a keen eye for detail, they explored several design portfolios before choosing Maison Kyka Studio, whose aesthetic sensibility aligned seamlessly with their own.

One concern remained, one familiar to anyone embarking on a major renovation: timing. With a move already scheduled, there was no room for delays, and Maison Kyka had to prove it could deliver on time.

The promise was fulfilled, and the trust they placed in the studio was rewarded in every detail: elegant mouldings that evoke classic Parisian charm, a brick-red splashback that energises the kitchen, and playful Swimmer wallpaper in the bathroom. Over time, each carefully considered feature has become part of the rhythm of everyday life.

Making more with less

At the heart of the renovation lay a simple conviction: limited space should never mean compromising on comfort or style, provided every square metre is designed with intention. Fascinated by the art of optimising urban living, Laura and Ronan shaped the entire project around versatility. The home office effortlessly transforms into both a guest bedroom and a yoga studio thanks to a concealed Murphy bed, while the children's bedroom was entirely reimagined so they can comfortably share the space without ever feeling cramped.

This commitment to intentional living extends to the choice of materials and design references throughout the apartment. Reading plays a central role in family life, reflected in a bespoke library conceived as the home's beating heart. It sits alongside a distinctly biophilic approach, where abundant natural light benefits not only the family's collection of plants, but also the people who live among them.

Laura and Ronan describe the guiding principle behind the renovation in just two words: soft geometry. Throughout the apartment, gently curved architectural details soften the lines of the space. The result is both practical and poetic: an ingenious way to make the home safer for young children while creating an aesthetic that feels calm, welcoming and enveloping.

Their favourite room? Without hesitation, the primary bedroom, created by transforming the former kitchen into a serene and highly functional suite. Bespoke bedside tables, a custom curved desk and thoughtfully integrated wardrobes ensure every design decision serves both practicality and beauty. Even the smallest details, from leaf-shaped hardware to colourful handles, give the room its distinctive character.

The couple admits they initially hesitated before introducing cream bouclé furniture into a home with young children. Maison Kyka Studio nevertheless encouraged them to embrace the idea.

"Thanks to a few simple house rules, the fabric has remained in beautiful condition. It brings so much warmth and texture to the room, and we're so glad we trusted the designers' vision."

Birdsong, just moments from Paris

The final question was where to create this new home. For Laura and Ronan, Meudon offered the perfect balance: the convenience of easy access to Paris alongside the greenery they were no longer willing to give up.

"The nearby N line makes commuting to Montparnasse incredibly convenient, while allowing us to wake up each morning to birdsong."

Being able to walk to everyday amenities as well as the surrounding parks and woodland quickly became essential to their quality of life.
