At Maison Kyka, we understand the unique emotion of a first-time purchase. Léo and Marie-Laure’s apartment is a beautiful example of it. Nestled in the heart of the vibrant Folie-Méricourt neighborhood, in Paris’s 11th arrondissement, this charming one-bedroom home blends rustic and industrial touches in a warm, colorful atmosphere. Welcome to their home.
Driven by a family project and a desire to invest in Paris, Léo and Marie-Laure reached out to Maison Kyka on the recommendation of a friend. They were immediately guided by Gauthier, real estate project manager, who supported them throughout the search for their future home. It was during the viewing of the fourth apartment that the couple finally fell in love. The 31 sq. m property they had just discovered offered an ideal layout—without compromise, unlike the previous ones. When they uncovered the original beams hidden beneath the false ceiling, everything clicked. They could already picture themselves living there.
The renovation began with rethinking the circulation, previously hindered by unnecessary partitions. The entrance hallway was removed, the ceiling opened up—instantly transforming the space into an airy, fluid volume aligned with Léo and Marie-Laure’s aesthetic vision. Enthralled by the charm of the now-exposed and sanded beams, they embraced a loft-inspired atmosphere where raw materials take center stage. The visual language is enhanced by a bold color palette, with vibrant blood-orange and green tones flowing from the living room into the bathroom. In this apartment, nothing is left to chance—not even the custom-built bed base, cleverly designed to store Léo’s racing bike.
The horizontal rhythm of the ceiling beams is playfully disrupted by a sliding screen in light wood, subtly concealing either a built-in china cabinet or the TV. Set on rails and custom-made, this piece of carpentry adds a fun and distinctive touch to a home with a strong visual identity.
Situated between République, Oberkampf, and Belleville, Folie-Méricourt is one of Paris’s liveliest neighborhoods. Bustling streets, packed café terraces, art galleries, and workshops create a dynamic urban setting where village charm meets cultural energy and everyday conviviality. Here, the old rubs shoulders with the contemporary, and social life often revolves around a drink—alive with that unmistakable Parisian buzz.
