Beauty often lies in quiet sophistication and an eye for detail — a philosophy shared by Maison Kyka and Joao, who, for his first property purchase, chose to dress a historic apartment in immaculate white, revealing the full finesse of its renovation. Welcome to his home.
A lover of fine architecture and the historic authenticity of the Marais, Joao was guided by Eugénie, real estate project manager at Maison Kyka, in his search for that rare gem. The charm worked its magic with a beautiful 30 sqm apartment in an 18ᵗʰ-century building, where natural light and high ceilings were the undeniable highlights. One look was enough — Joao knew this was where he would unpack his bags.
The living room, the beating heart of the apartment, was redesigned to reflect the owner’s passion for gastronomy. The open kitchen was conceived to be both highly functional and seamlessly integrated into Joao’s desired aesthetic — a subtle blend of classic Parisian codes and retro-cosy style. Throughout, distinctive Haussmannian features punctuate the space: ceiling medallions, ornate mouldings, and herringbone parquet. Color takes center stage in the private areas, with deep green tones in the bathroom and a velvety terracotta hue along the hallway.
Custom masonry work allowed the storage units to appear built directly into the walls. Niches and shelves add depth to the reception area, redefining the idea of pared-back minimalism through architectural precision and craftsmanship.
The historic heart of the city beats to the rhythm of the Marais — a neighborhood where one loves to wander between medieval alleyways and sophisticated boutiques. More than a fashionable address, the Marais embodies a timeless art of living and remains one of Paris’s most sought-after districts — a place where one easily settles in, for a week, a year, or a lifetime.
