Mur-Murs : At Chloé’s, in Paris’ 9ᵗʰ arrondissement

Summary
    Chez Chloé

A small apartment, yet a major love at first sight. That is how Chloé’s real estate journey could be summed up. Now the proud owner of a 16 sqm studio in the Saint-Georges neighbourhood, just steps away from the square of the same name, she opens the doors to her light-filled retreat—perched among the zinc rooftops and open to the Parisian sky.

    This will be the one

Chloé has reached that point where one rental after another begins to feel repetitive, and the desire to own a place of her own becomes increasingly compelling. And nothing is left to chance. As a project manager in an architecture firm, she knows exactly what she wants—and what she refuses to compromise on. Location, light, design: every decision must reflect who she is. Bright, structured, resourceful.

Beyond the neighbourhood she is particularly drawn to, two criteria guide her search: natural light and the building itself. Because in her eyes, an apartment is not just about its walls—it is about the environment, the shared spaces, the life around it.

The encounter takes place on a winter morning, under a heavy grey sky. The former maid’s room—16 sqm (23 sqm floor area)—is far from impressive at first glance. But none of that matters. She knows instantly: this is the one.

"My attention immediately went to the large roof openings, which promised beautiful natural light throughout the day, as well as an unobstructed view over the Paris rooftops—even though the weather that day was particularly awful.”

Once the purchase is complete, it is time to imagine and create. Together with the Maison Kyka Studio, Chloé begins shaping a bold, vibrant space—entirely her own.

    Living in the light

Describe Chloé and her apartment in one word? Easy: sunshine. Of course, for its brightness—but also for the vibrant hues that radiate through every corner, giving the space a delightfully retro atmosphere. A perfect match for its owner, who surrounds herself with colour and embraces every ray of light as part of the experience.

If the eyes are said to be the mirror of the soul, they also reflect the lines of the space we inhabit. In that sense, Chloé’s apartment is no exception.

"The decorative elements that resemble me the most? My cynical side would say the cowhide rug in the living room. But on a warmer note, I’d say the curves—both in the tile cuts and in the lines of the bookshelf."

Designed with optimisation in mind, the renovation completely reshapes the space. The layout now follows a clearer logic, where functions are defined as much by circulation as by aesthetics. One could almost forget it was originally a studio.

From the entrance, a non-woven wallpaper with architectural patterns sets the tone. Like a refrain, it leads into the living area, where it interacts with the deep green of the sofa. The dining space unfolds around a bespoke banquette, enhanced by a mirror that subtly expands the perception of space.

Just a few steps further, the open kitchen reveals itself—wrapped entirely in yellow, from floor to ceiling, in a bold “box effect”. The bathroom continues this total-look approach, with a red and off-white palette that fully embraces a seventies spirit.

    The taste of the 9th

Et cela commence en bas de son immeuble. More than just an apartment, Chloé’s new home reflects her vision of the perfect way to live—and it starts right outside her building.

“It’s the perfect balance between a lively neighbourhood, a soft and bohemian atmosphere, and the vibrant energy of Pigalle, just a few minutes’ walk away.”

Add to this the picturesque streets of Montmartre, ideal for wandering, and everything comes together to make this corner of the 9th arrondissement a place to settle in for years to come.
