Paris 11th arrondissement: the quintessence of cool, a haven for artists and a true breeding ground for architectural gems. It is beneath the eaves of a faubourien building that Mathieu imagined his own retreat, shaped by softness and restraint. Welcome to his home.
Mathieu embarked on the journey of his first property purchase in Paris, with the desire to create a space that truly reflects him. Alongside Maison Kyka, he envisioned a layout designed around his lifestyle, with a distinct sleeping area and a spacious kitchen. The project reveals an authentic interior, where raw materials, touches of colour, conviviality and functionality come together.
Mathieu’s attic apartment reveals original features of remarkable aesthetic value: terracotta floor tiles, timeworn wooden doors and exposed beams. This setting engages in a dialogue with an aesthetic at the crossroads of Mediterranean rustic charm and wabi-sabi, expressed through curated vintage pieces and an organic palette of browns, terracotta and celadon blue.
The shower, entirely clad in two-tone zellige arranged in a subtle interplay of patterns, evokes an escape to the shores of the Mediterranean.
At the heart of the 11th arrondissement, Folie-Méricourt takes its name from former country houses, remnants of a once-rural past on the edge of Paris. Shaped by a strong artisanal activity in the 19th century, the neighbourhood now cultivates a highly sought-after creative energy, where reimagined workshops, curated galleries and contemporary addresses reinterpret its heritage.
