At Maison Kyka, we understand the excitement and emotion that comes with your very first real estate purchase. Léo and Marie-Laure’s apartment is a beautiful example of it. Nestled in the heart of the vibrant Folie-Méricourt neighbourhood, in the 11th arrondissement, this charming one-bedroom home blends rustic and industrial touches in a warm, colourful atmosphere. Welcome to their home.
Motivated by the desire to start a family and a plan to invest in Paris, Léo and Marie-Laure reached out to Maison Kyka following a friend’s recommendation. They were assisted by Gauthier, one of our real estate project manager, in their search for their future home. The couple fell in love with the fourth apartment they visited. The 31 sqm property stood out for its ideal layout, with no compromise needed unlike other listings. When they uncovered the original beams hidden beneath the dropped ceiling, everything clicked. They could already picture themselves living there.
The project began with rethinking the flow around the apartment, which was previously hindered by unnecessary partitions. The entrance hallway was removed and the dropped ceiling cleared, adding volume just like Léo and Marie-Laure had envisioned. Enthralled by the charm of the now-exposed and sanded beams, they embraced a loft-inspired atmosphere where raw materials take centre stage. The overall visual language is enhanced by a bold colour palette, with vibrant blood-orange and green tones flowing from the living room into the bathroom. Nothing was left to chance, not even the custom-built bed frame, which was cleverly designed to store Léo’s racing bike.
The horizontal ceiling beams are playfully matched by a claustra in light wood, subtly concealing either a dresser or TV. Installed on rails and custom-made, this piece of carpentry adds a fun and distinctive touch to the home, adding to its strong visual identity.
Located between République, Oberkampf, and Belleville, Folie-Méricourt is one of Paris’s liveliest neighbourhoods. Bustling streets, packed café terraces, trendy art galleries, and busy workshops create a dynamic urban setting where village charm meets cultural energy. Here, old and modern coexists, and social life often happens around a drink, alive with that unmistakable Parisian buzz.
