A cosy nest for a growing family. Paul and his wife are writing a new chapter with their baby boy... and a new baby soon! These young parents decided to put down roots in an apartment located in a private villa in the Victor Hugo district. Maison Kyka found a duplex – occupying both the 6th and last floor of the building – bathed in light and perfect to accommodate their growing tribe. High ceilings, large rooms and a view of the Eiffel Tower: everything here invites you to relax, blossom and grow. Welcome to their home.

The meeting with Maison Kyka

Paul and his partner knew exactly what they wanted: a high-end property where each member of the family could naturally find their place. A play corner for children to play and dream in. An office bathed in light to promote inspiration and accommodate remote work. And a closed concept kitchen that still felt connected to the heart of the home: the living room and the lounge. A space that subtly blends practicality and beauty, to nurture their family life.

1930s spirit

The tone is set right from the entrance: built-in cupboards, a clean flow and a well-designed layout. The “cube” kitchen was designed to be the genuine hub of the first level. Partially open onto the living room, it gives the space a clear sense of structure while preserving openness and flow. It relies on warm wood, touches of powder pink and a black granite worktop to achieve a subtle balance between subdued elegance and a distinctive character. A coffee corner and a built-in wine cellar are great additions to foster moments of sharing.

The living room and the lounge area were decorated with antique fireplaces and custom-made windows to achieve a characteristic 1930s charm. The former features carefully selected furniture, including Sarah Lavoine pieces, Nobilis sofas, Madura curtains and Samsung Frame TV. An office is nestled under the stairs, behind a partition, but receives ample light from the skylights above.

Designing spaces for family life

Upstairs, the old configuration has given way to an entire space dedicated to children. 35 sqm comprising of two bedrooms, a bathroom with shower and bath, a separate toilet and a laundry room. Each room features an open design, and the wall closet in the hallway is key to free up a lot of space in the bedrooms. Chair rails and mouldings have been added to restore all its elegance to this formerly fragmented floor.

The master ensuite bedroom’s layout was revised to make way for the cube kitchen, without compromising on comfort. Custom closets, Pierre Frey wallpapers and a thoughtfully designed bathroom were all carefully chosen with well-being in mind.

The iconic detail

The couple had fallen in love with an Art Deco fireplace at the Saint-Ouen flea market, and kept this rare piece tucked away in storage, in the hopes of finding it a perfect home. And of course, they couldn’t envision their new place without it. Maison Kyka teams got to work to integrate it from the first sketches of the project, to finally give it the setting it deserved.

Their duplex combines the soul of the 1930s and a contemporary layout, designed to grow with the family.
